Hello (for the first time in a while!)
Been a pretty busy start to the year, what with pulling together new songs, re-designing the site, dealing with the January Blues etc, but almost feels like the air is getting clearer...so....a quick visit to SXSW in Austin, TX is on the cards. Anyone going?
As it's my first visit to the states, and it's gonna be a brief and busy one, I need some tips (what to do/see/eat/drink etc)?
The BIGGEST question may well be 'best place to get a supremely strong, black coffee'?

I think the best place to get a supremely strong, black coffee would be Italy. Which is no help.
Although I would imagine if any country was going to offer a 40-ounce Americano, it would be America...
I personally ain't going, but I know some people who are...
My workmate Matt is in the band The Higher State (they play 60s sounding garage rock), they are playing a whole bunch of dates whilst they are out there (they played last year too).
My of my other work colleagues will be out there for the Austin Record Fair at the same time. He will be meeting up with our meat-loving US buyer.. I shall check with them, and get some recommendations of places to eat, and shall report back!!
Oh god, awful typo earlier (Brit Awards was just starting, got distracted, and was being hurried by my sis who wanted her laptop), I meant to say "Another of my colleagues.." All in all, 3 of my work mates will be out there.
Will keep an eye out on the times & dates of your shows, I shall pass the details onto peeps / bands that I know, who are going.

Austin is completely insane during SXSW, getting from one part of the city to another is interesting to say the least, even more so as a band from what my friends have told me.
My advice is to expect the unexpected.
Also whenever you have the opportunity to do the following things, do them as often as you can:
-Eat
-drink (both alcohol & water, especially water)
-use the toilet
-have a sit down
Definitely have sun block on hand, the weather the past two years has been sunny & hot, and is not good for those of us who are fair skinned (myself included).
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'm sure I can get an answer to your question!

I try to eat, drink water and alcohol, use the toilet, and sit down as often as possible generally, even when kicking around Edinburgh, but as a pale west-coaster I will definitely try to find some factor-3000! Or a massive hat...
