Anyone here a fan of the ol telly box??
Is there anything that you absolutely MUST watch during the week? Or got any TV guilty pleasures?
I think my guilty pleasures would be One Tree Hill, Ugly Betty and I enjoyed the pilot episode of 'Glee', so will be watching the series when it starts next Monday.
But other general favourites would be Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Scrubs, How I Met Your Mother, Hustle, Silent Witness, Doctor Who, Top Gear (when I remember its on), Gavin & Stacey (I am REALLY gonna miss it), Friends (still) and more..

I have been watching a lot of American shows recently, in a bid to stay in and not spend any money haha. Ones I would recommend would be:
Californication: David Duchovny as an art-mirrors-life-mirrors-art gratuitous and hilarious sex pest essentially.
24: The Jack Bauer Power Hour. Suspend your disbelief for an hour, have a cup of tea, repeat. The TV equivalent of a Dan Brown book. Trash, but a cliffhanger on ever page...
Breaking Bad: Nobel Prize winning chemistry teacher is diagnosed with cancer and turns his skills to cooking crystal meth in order to provide for his family. Great combination of dark and funny.
It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia: Low budget hilarity. The episode titles give it away really: The Gang Signs on Welfare, The Gang Gets Racist, Charlie Gets Crippled etc. As a special treat Danny De Vito appears from the second series onwards. Crass, but hilarious.
Dexter: A serial killer, who only kills other serial killers? 'Nuff said.
That's for starters!
my guilty pleasure is Grey's Anatomy. I can't help it.
I've really enjoyed the James May's Toy Stories programmes recently!
I'm also a sucker for all the funny panel shows... Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, QI, 8 out of 10 Cats...
AND a programme that I only got into just before Christmas and have since bought all the episodes on iTunes - The Thick of It. Swearing IS big and clever.
Watched the film In The Loop the other week which I understand is the same characters as the Thick of It. And yes, they take swearing to a whole new level of brilliance. I intend to watch the series soon...
"Fuckitty-bye!"
Aha, I've heard of Californication, I thought it was a weird turn of events when DD went into rehab for the same issue as his character; and I used to be addicted to 24, I watched and was obsessed with Series 1-4 but the fact it went to Sky 1 was causing problems as we don't have that in this house, and I was having to get it taped, in the end I gave up on it.
Other than Dexter, I am unaware of the other shows you mentioned Andrew, what channel do you find them on?? BUT that aside, you mentioning that you watch a lot of American shows, made me remember FAMILY GUY - I love Family Guy. We had the boxsets at work, we would all sit down and watch them at lunchtimes in the staffroom, we could get 3 episodes in, a day.
Becca - am a big fan of Mock The Week (I have the first 'Too Hot For TV' DVD) etc etc, and I watched a few of those James May programmes.
Did anyone watch this years' 'Big Fat Quiz of the Year'? I always find them funny.
My flatmate is a serial torrent downloader, with a Tb harddrive full of "shows for a rainy/hungover day". One of the other utterly moronic but quite brilliant comedies I have enjoyed in the past has been "Trailerpark Boys", a Canadian show in which each series follows the same lines: episode one, the three guys get out of prison, go back to live in the trailerpark, and vow to go straight. Mid-series episodes: They run out of money and decide to resurrect their massive weed-farming operation. End of series: It all goes tits-up, there is a massive shoot-out, and they go back to jail. The comedy comes from the characters themselves - most of the dialogue is unscripted and they play the idiot very well.
I previously mentioned that I enjoyed the pilot of 'Glee', well this enjoyment has turned into some sort of an obsession. I absolutely bloody love. I am unashamed!
Really enjoyed that recent series of 'Hustle', I think its cleverly done, and well written.
I bought the DVD of the Peter Serafinowicz Show at the weekend. HE is funny as hell.. The BBC are fools for cancelling his show, and letting him go. He's got lots of amazing stuff coming up in the near future (voicing Paul McCartney in the remake of Yellow Submarine), so all the best to him.
Was he not the voice of Darth Maul in the horrific car-crash that is Star Wars Episode One as well?
Yes he was indeed.
His show has some very funny moments:
