Yay for the promise of shite being chattered.
Snowed in? Well we got a load of snow fall down here in Kent yesterday afternoon.. Can't say that we are completely snowed in, here in my lil village, we had a couple of inches, but 10 mins up the road (but higher up), they had 6 inches. Me and the guys who I work with, packed our stuff up and was out the door about an hour & half earlier than norm, at about half 4 yesterday. I was back in work this morning though, and had our section to myself, as both boys didn't make it in, it took one of them (the one who lives further away) SEVEN hours to do a journey that normally takes an hour to an hour & half.. EEK!
I did get a snow day the week before Xmas, which was fun. I spent the day wrapping my Xmas presents AND watching DVDs.. Which is when I watched and fell in love with the film 'Once' and then in love with Glen Hansard's back catalogue!
Yeah on the way back from the Highlands after new year we got to within 20 miles of Edinburgh with amazingly no delays at all, then the last 20 miles took three hours...sunny here today but still freezing, looks like the snow will still be about for the weekend.
There was a huge and slightly malevolent looking snowman standing in the communal garden but I've just looked out the window and it seems somone has rugby-tackled it into oblivion. There's now just a head and some disjointed body segments scattered across the snow. It's like Stalingrad al over again. But with snowmen. Aye.
Not too much snow in Bedford thankfully! Although despite the fact that we've had very little - my housemate who is a teacher has been at home the last few days. I swear they never used to close the schools so quickly.
There was a great image of GB from NASA floating around yesterday:

That picture is pretty awesome. Like the grey smudges where the cities are - it mirrors the horrible icy slush on the pavements at the moment...
I saw someone complaining about the schools, possibly on This Week or the news or something, saying that we are health and safety obsessives these days. But the point was also raised that a lot fewer staff and pupils actually live within walking distance of the schools nowadays - a lot of the smaller local primaries have shut and that sort of thing. But I am tempted to say we are just getting a bit lazy as a nation - they seem to manage to make it to school fine in Russia and such places...
I saw that picture in the paper today Becca, is quite an amazing sight they've got up there..
TODAY, I was, once again, back in work. But about an hour after I got there, I started getting reports from my weather spies that it was falling down quite heavy for about an hour non-stop, but kept on working and ended up staying til the end despite there being yet another heavy down pouring of it in the afternoon. Think another inch or two fell in total.
THIS WEEKEND, I intend to stay indoors, for two reasons: 1 - I need to shift this cough and 2 - Kent and its surrounding areas are set for EVEN MORE frickin' snow GRRRRR:

I've just tried looking for a picture of the Medway Bridge (part of the M2 Motorway) which got clogged up with traffic, and ultimately became a car park for some.. People just abandoned their cars in the middle of the lanes and walked home.
Here are my pictures from my December Snow Day, as soon as I got the go ahead to not go in, I firstly went up the shop for supplies, got home and then went out with my camera and took pix of my pretty village:

I love snow in moderation, I love how it makes things look pretty, but THIS is starting to take the p*ss.
We were surprised and delighted on our return from Holland at the weekend to find the snow has all gone! Made the drive home a lot quicker!
Yeah, it kinda disappeared in Kent around Thursday 14th - Friday 15th, which I was very pleased about, I was convinced the weather man was setting out to ruin my birthday (the following week) and my week off. Though, rather oddly, there has been some stealth snow in the early hours of the morning in the last few days, my Dad reported that he saw some rather large-sized flakes at around half 5am, whilst on his way to work one day this week. It was settling apparently, but by the time most people got up for work, NOTHING.
The weather also caused a weird-happening in this house this week, the heat from the inside and the cold from the outside caused one of the panes of glass in our bathroom window to fractured and smash. THAT was weiiiiiiiiird and very unexpected.
You boys haven't got any last minutes trips that require driving through Kent have you?? WARNING, we're set for another big downfall of the white stuff in the next few days or so!
In other news, I became an Auntie again for the SEVENTH time last week, the first baby girl in the family since my sister (who will be 24 in May), 6 nephews and now finally a niece. WOOOOP!
