I've had my own MySpace music for a good long while now, but the fact is I'm not too happy with the recordings on there. They were done on my best friend's laptop in his living room and he really did his very best with what he had, but they are amateurish at best unfortunately.
Today I was listening to the recordings and I thought, "Hey - you're no stranger to a bit of constructive criticism - lets get you out there and see what advice people can offer you. You know no one's gonna tell you you're amazing or that the recordings are awesome, but they might be able to make some suggestions about how you might improve". So here goes...
As I say, the recordings are shaky at best, but I've been slogging away since I discovered I had a voice at about 17 and gotten nowhere - I know I can sing - but even I can name things that hinder my voice. I have no training, I have little control, I don't know how to breathe properly and then there's the fact that I smoke etc - all things that I could change if I wanted to, if I thought it was worth it and would get me anywhere. But perhaps I just haven't tried hard enough to get myself out there?
A few years ago, I joined a band called Etrangere - it lasted about 6 months and we were doing really well. However, the other two thirds of the band were an engaged, co-habiting couple who got very pissy with me when I had to cancel rehearsals and gigs at short notice, usually because of family commitments (I have a son, now 6, but at the time he wasn't much more than a baby), so I had to quit. I feel now that Dillon (my munchkin) is older, I could join a band and be able to actually throw myself into it, properly commit. It's just finding one!!!!
Anyways, I've linked y'all to my MySpace Music below - any comments (good, bad or ugly!) greatly appreciated.

Ta muchly.

I think a much better microphone / recording technique would help to be honest, there doesn't seem to be any treble response from your voice, it's very bassy. You do sound tuneful, but i think you have to capture the breath in your vocal for it to be at it's best.
Thanks for listening and replying.
Agreed on both accounts. Think lessons would be a good starting point - I don't breathe properly and I know that's a big factor. Proper recordings in a studio would cost a fortune - can't afford to do that just now really - any suggestions for a good microphone/home recording sofware in the meantime?
