Festival Reviews/Highlights

As it is the the season, what are everyone's highlights from the festivals so far?

Having survived Glastonbury with nothing but some mild sunburn and I'd sum up the best bits as:

1) Playing the Queen's Head stage on Saturday afternoon (obvious one really!)
2) Neil Young's set, especially the great cover of 'A Day in the Life' complete with the guitar destroying, vibraphone tinkling finale
3) Finally making it to our campsite after a sweltering 2hr walk, and managing to pitch (most of) the tents in time to give us shelter during the sizeable thunder storm

  • Well, i am really not a festival kinda guy.. but i always attend at the metropolis festival in Rotterdam. Ok, it is my hometown so i live nearby..
I saw broken records there and i love the music.. never saw the band before and even only got to know the music a few days ago. Will buy the album online.. downloading is easy, fast and good to explore new music.. and if i come across a diamond like this i buy the original thing :)
Tried to reply to the last tweet and added a picture.. not sure if that worked..

  • hey patrick, it was a big drive to get there so I'm really glad BR made an impact. We've played some other shows in Utrecht and Den Haag in the past but first time for Rotterdam.

  • I was in the front and didn't really look back to see how many people stood there.. but in the end i heard quit a lot of people saying they liked it.. so things can only get better if you ask me..
Den Haag is the town i work in and Utrecht is only a 50km drive for me.. if only i knew the band before i would have attended for sure!
Make sure to let me know when you cross the pond again, don't want to miss it:)
Ordered the album via cdwow a few days ago...

  • I haven't managed any festivals this year. I was looking forward to Connect, but it isn't running this year - PAH. Discovered Broken Records there last year, I've never been so glad to have missed most of Bloc Party.

    • I concur. Not only did BR play a blinding set in the afternoon, they did another in the evening when a lot of the headliners were on and plenty of people stayed in front of the smaller stage to watch Broken Records - the atmosphere was totally electric.

Must say a big thank you to Stewart Morgan (think Rory and Jamie know him) who, when he heard that I was going to Connect, told me to make a point of checking out Broken Records. Without him you and I never would have discovered BR that day.
